About Mulueshet
We began with a simple observation: in Ethiopia the health system exists, but the poorest households cannot buy their way through the door.
Our story
Mulueshet was founded in Addis Ababa by volunteers who kept meeting the same family twice — once at a clinic that turned them away, and once at home, sicker. Community-Based Health Insurance already covers most treatment in Ethiopia, but the annual premium and the medication that follows a diagnosis remain out of reach for households living on daily income. We pay both, in full, for the people least able to.
Mission
To remove cost as the reason anyone in our community goes untreated, by funding health insurance, medication and the facilities that deliver them.
Vision
An Ethiopia where every elderly mother, every low-income household, holds a valid health insurance card and can fill a prescription without fear.

Governance and transparency
Mulueshet is run by a board with separated financial responsibilities. Every disbursement is receipted, enrolment lists are verified with local health offices, and we publish a periodic report of income, spending and beneficiaries reached. Donors may request the underlying records at any time.
